Fingerprint drug testing works by detecting drugs and drug metabolites contained within the minute traces of sweat in fingerprints. Drug metabolites are substances produced by the body when it metabolises drugs. Lateral flow assay technology and fluorescence-labelled antibodies are used to detect precise drugs or their metabolites in eccrine sweat gathered from the fingerprints
A specimen of sweat is taken from each finger onto a cartridge with a tamper-evident protective cover, slid over the top once the sample has been composed. The portable DSR-Plus is a highly accurate and effective fluorescence measurement instrument used to read the cartridge and administer a presumptive positive or negative result for each drug within minutes
Our system works using two different types of cartridge; the window of detection is, on average, 18 to 24 hours. Samples are taken from each finger; when tested on a portable screener a liquid containing antibodies attches to metabolites in the sample
