Born in Singapore, Etienne spent a month with us during a break from her Criminology Degree at Reading University
Of her time with us, she says:
"My time with Answers Investigation and UK Fingerprint has been both eye-opening and incredibly rewarding. From the moment I started, I was surprised by how hands-on the experience was. Rather than just observing, I was actively involved in real investigative work — including surveillance, tracking, and even learning the intricacies of fingerprinting and police clearance procedures"
"During my month of work experience at Answers Investigations, I spent a full day in the New Forest as part of a surveillance operation. We were tasked with observing a couple suspected of committing adultery. The day involved following them discreetly by car, without a fixed route or schedule, simply tracking their movements as they travelled around. It was an eye-opening experience into the realities of investigative work—requiring patience, attention to detail, and discretion. Although the situation was sensitive, it felt rewarding to be part of something that helped bring clarity and closure to the affected partner, confirming their suspicions and ultimately providing them with peace of mind. The unpredictable nature of the day, combined with the responsibility of gathering accurate observations, made it both challenging and highly engaging"
"Other surveillance - sometimes sitting for hours waiting for someone to exit an office building in Reading -taught me how patience, perseverance and application pays off
"Every day brought something new, whether travelling to different locations or working alongside the team on complex tasks. The supportive environment helped me quickly gain confidence, and I was encouraged to step out of my comfort zone from the start. Being trusted with genuine responsibilities made me feel like a valued member of the team, not just a work experience student"
"This placement has given me a true insight into the world of private investigation and fingerprinting and has definitely sparked a deeper interest in the field"
